4WD EXPERIENCE-2010

Option No. 1:
A 10 day journey driving from Kathmandu to Lhasa,following the rivers and valleys with the plenty of waterfalls
on our eyes. The journey passes through Nepal-Tibet border,
through beautiful mountains and farming valleys.
This route is the most adventurous
route among the others as it offers the panoramic views
of the high mountains including the highest peak Everest
(8848m) with Langtang (7367m), Xixapangma (8012m), Makalu
(8464m) Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8153m). We get chance to
pass by the high passes like Nyalam Pass (3750 m), Tong-La
(5120m) La Lung-la (5124m) ; Gyatso-la (5220 m). We drive
passing Tingri (4390 m) to visit Gyantse, tibet's second-largest
city, lying near the union of the Nyang Chu and the Tsang
Po, on the main route between Gyantse and West Tibet. It
is the place of famous Tashilumpo Monastery. Drive to Lhasa,
crossing the Karo-la Pass(5045m), we pass by the Yamdrok
Tso, the turquoise lake ; one of the four holy lakes in
Tibet. Then after passing the Kamba-la Pass (4794m), we
find ourselves close to the Lhasa Valley. After crossing
the Brahmaputra River, we reach Lhasa, our final destination.

Day 1 |
Kathmandu
Arrival
in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal from your country destination.

Kathmandu-Pashupatinath, Swambunath,

Kathmandu-Kodari-Zhangmu
This
morning we will drive from Kathmandu-Kodari-Zhangmu, following
the rivers and valleys with the plenty of waterfalls on
our eyes. Amazing views of the Himalaya and the Tibetan
countryside greet you on the overland drive from Kathmandu.
This route is the most adventurous route among the others
as it offers the panoramic views of the high mountains including
the highest peak Everest (8848m) with Langtang (7367m),
Xixapangma (8012m), Makalu (8464m) Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu
(8153m). Overnight at Gang Gyen (Budget)

Day 4 |
Zhangmu-Xegar
Breakfast. From
Zhangmu, we drive to Lhatse, following the Bhote Koshi River
valley with the plenty of waterfalls on our eyes. This route
is the most adventurous route among the others as it offer
the panoramic views of the high mountains including the highest
peak Everest (8848 m) with Langtang (7367m), Xixapangma (8012m),
Makalu (8464m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8153m). we get chance
to pass by the high passes like Nyalam Pass (3750m) , Tong-La
(5120m), La Lung-La (5124m) & Gyatso-La (5220m). We continue
our drive passing Tingri (4390M) and stay Xegar (also known

Xegar-Shitgase
This
morning we will continuous drive through the high mountains
to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, site of the
Tashihunpo monastery. Overnight at Shitgase hotel,3 (B)(L)

Day 6 |
Tashilumpo -Gyantse-Gyantse Kumbum-Pelkhur
Choide monastery
Today
we will visits Tashilumpo monastery. The seat of the Panchen
Lamas, Tashihunpo is a vast complex with a golden rooftops
and impressive chapels. Although having suffered the ravages
of man and time, Gyantse, our next stop, with it's unique
Palkor Chode temple and Kumbum Chorten, offers a glimpse
of an irretrievably lost era in some of the most extraordinary
works of art found in all Tibet. Overnight at Gyantse hotel,3 (B)(L)

Day 7 |
Gyantse-Lhasa
Breakfast. This morning we will continuous drive to Lhasa, crossing the Karo-la Pass (5045m), we pass by the Yamdrok Tso, the turquoise
lake; one of the four holy lakes in Tibet. Then after passing
the Kamba-la Pass (4794m), we find ourselves close to the
Lhasa Valley. After crossing the Brahmaputra River, we reach
Lhasa, our final destination. Stay at the hotel adapt yourself

Day 8 |
Lhasa: Potala Palace-Sera Monastery- Norbulingka Park
Breakfast. You
will have a full day tour in Lhasa. The highlight today
is the Magnificent Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai
Lama; the place where the former great Dalai Lama's stupas
are being kept; once the seat of the Tibetan government.
With a history of over 1,300 years, the Potala Palace is
the treasure of Tibetan religion and culture, storing plenty
of figures of the Buddha, murals, sutras etc. After visiting
Potala Palace, you will visit one of the three largest monasteries
of Gelugpa, the Sera Monastery, and Dalai Lama's summer
palace of, the treasure Park of Tibet, the Norbulingka.
After the day's sightseeing, you will be offered an insight
into the daily life of the Tibetan people, you may also
be served tea in their home. Overnight at Lhasa hotel,4 (B)(L)

Day 9 |
Lhasa-Drepung Monastery-Jokhang Temple-Barkhor Street
Breakfast. In the morning, you will visit the No. 1 Monastery of Gelugpa,Drepung Monastery, which is the richest monastery ever in Tibet, and is still active today. Then you will be guided
to visit the spiritual center of Tibet, the Jokhang Temple,
where you might meet many pilgrims, who even prostrate by
full length to the threshold of the temple. You will visit
the sacred pilgrim path, the oldest street in Lhasa, the
Barkhor Street, which is the place where Tibetan culture,
economy, religion and arts assemble. Overnight at Lhasa Hotel,4 (B)(L)

This hard journey requires flexibility,
tolerance and spirit of adventure of every journey participant
due to the high altitude. Anyhow the tourism infrastructure
has somewhat developed.

Conditions and Fares: All the tour fares are effective
for 2010 in Euro or in $ US, unless otherwise specified
in the tour description.
Payment
Conditions for Nepal-Tibet Tours: An inmediately deposit of
$US 600.00 or 500.00 € Euros per person is required at the time of confirmation of the reservation.
*The rest of the Tour Fare shall be paid no later than 65 days prior to the eve of the departure date in
either the basic tariff currency, as quoted. If a booking
is made within 65
days of the departure date, full payments are due immediately.
