Most of the Himalaya mountain range, one of the youngest
mountain ranges in the world at only 4 million years
old, lies within Tibet. Its most famous peak, Mount
Everest, is on Nepal's border with Tibet. The average

Lhasa

Arrival at Lhasa, capital
of Tibet. Upon arrival at Gonggar airport you will be received
and driven along the banks of the Yarlung river to Lhasa.
Check - in at Lhasa Hotel 4 or at Shambala Hotel,3 (in two options). Spend the rest of the day getting
used to the altitude.

Lhasa

These two days will be spent discovering Lhasa - its magnificent
palace residences, Monasteries & quaint bazaars. You will
see the famous Potala Palace, which was constructed in 637
by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet and
later served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas,
Norbulinka Palace-which means the garden of treasures in
Tibetan language. Located in the west suburbs of Lhasa,
this palace complex was built in the 18th century and served
as the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas, Sera Monastery as well as the Jokhang monastery-the center of the Tibetan
Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where
innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple,
built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure
still existing in Tibet. Walk through the narrow lanes of
Barkhor, the old market place of Lhasa, which has remained
unchanged for centuries. Overnight at Lhasa
Hotel, 4 or at Shambala Hotel,3 (in two options).

Fly Beijing-Ulaanbaatar (B/D)
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Beijing Capital Airport. International flight Beijing-Ulaanbaatar. Upon your arrival in Ulaan Baatar (UB), capital of Mongolia, you will be met at the airport or in UB Railway Station and are transferred to the hotel. Free time at hotel. 18:00-Attend the Evening Mongolian traditional folk songs and dance concert. Have welcome dinner at local restaurant featuring Mongolian and Western specialties. Overnight at Bayangol hotel,4 or similar.

Day 7

Ulaanbaatar-Tuul River Nomad's Sacred Valley-Chinggis Tourist Camp (B/L/D)
Breakfast. In the morning, visit Gandan Lamasery, the largest Monastery in Mongolia (80 foot tall statue of Buddha, practicing Tibetan Buddhist Lamas), the buddhist ceremony at 10:00am and experience the Tibetan-Buddhist tradition. Afterward, visit the Main Square, the "Genghis" Khan's main monument, the National History Museum, where you will see artefacts from Mongolia from the Stone Age to the present, and displays of the development of Mongolian arts and culture. Lunch in local restaurant. Afterward, drive to the "Tuul river Nomad's Sacred Valley" (55kms/27.5miles)-this is a beautiful valley of streams. There are national gers in beautiful natural locations, so it's easy to meet with locals and see their daily lives, interact with them, explore, take water adventures, go trekking, swimming in the Tuul river. The beautiful valley in summer is often dotted with traditional Mongolian gers and offers picturesque sceneries. In route, we stop to observe and to take some amazing photos to the Giant 40 meter (~133,3 feet) Statue of "Genghis or Chinggis" Khan on a big horse-it is located just ~3kms (~1,5miles) to "Chinggis" Tourist Traditional Base Camp. Welcome dinner with traditional mongolian meal barbecue (khorkhog), which is mutton cooked with hot rock and with vegetables, water, potatoes, and onion. Overnight in "Chinggis" Tourist Base Traditional Ger Camp. Have your first ger camp experience. "Chinggis" Tourist Traditional Ger Base Camp is Highly recommended by "Lonely Planet Mongolia" by the author Michael Kohn.

Day 8

Gorkhi/Terelj National Park (B/L/D)
Breakfast. Today, we drive to "Gorkhi/Terelj" National Park for a walking tour to Turtle Rock and hiking to the "Arryabal" Buddhist monastery on the top of the mountain. It is famous for its amazing rock formations, pristine alpine scenery and varied bird life. The Terelj National Park incorporates parts of Khenty Mountain Range. The forest consists of Aspen, Larch and Birch trees which support wolf, eagles, birds, and others animals. Explore the 100 Lamas cave, where 100 Lamas hide from the soviets repression. Picnic lunch is provided. In the afternoon, drive back to "Chinggis" tourist base ger camp. Free time for Mongolian archery, horseback riding, etc. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9
|
Ulaanbaatar city tour (B/L/D)
Breakfast. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to the hotel. A full day of sightseeing in the city including the Natural Museum, where you will see two complete dinosaur skeletons, which were found in the Gobi - the giant flesh-eating Tarbosaurus, 15m tall and four to five tons in weight, and the little duck-billed plant-eating Saurolophus, and displays of Mongolia's geography, flora and fauna, the "Bogd Khan" Winter Palace-home to Mongolia's last Khan, Damba Khutugt 8th, the war memorial "Zaisan" Hill to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city and the Buddha's statue and the Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum, known as one of the best collections of Buddhist art and artifacts in the world. Lunch in local restaurant. There will be time for art and cashmere shopping. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the Bayangol hotel,4 or similar.
