Horses are bred mainly to supply the family with their own riding horses.

Tour Name:

Horseback riding Journey
in Khusvgul National Park

Begins in:

Ulaan Baatar

Destination:

Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia

Ends in:

Ulaan Baatar

Min. Length:

18 days

Min. Group:

4 persons

This great tour will take us 18 days to ride along with our pack horses in
"Chinggis" tourist camp
through the vast sacred Tuul river Valley and in the second part of this program to ride with our pack horses, starting from the Khatgal
in Khovsgol Lake National Park, ending at the
Tsagaannuur, White Lake.

About Khovsgol Lake: The northern of Mongolia is dominated by the magnificent Khovsgol Lake National Park
(it is about 900km from Ulaan Baatar). This is a land of huge pine trees and crystal-clear lakes, with water so pure you can drink it, icy streams, lush grass, open meadows and an abundance
of wild flowers. Khovsgol Lake is surrounded by several peaks near 3000 m high.

In surface area, this is the second-largest lake in Mongolia and the deepest lake (up to 262 m) in Central Asia. The alpine climate of the northernmost province Khovsgol can change from one extreme to another. In summer, temperatures are mild but weather can change quickly (rain showers are to be expected) and temperatures will range between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius during the day. At night they may drop to 10 to 5 degrees Celsius. In autumn (August-September), temperatures may drop to 0 degrees Celsius at night.

About the Tsaatan people:

About 50 km west of Khovsgol Lake is a large depression called Tsagaan Nuur
White Lake, named after the main village in the area. This is one of the best-watered regions in Mongolia; there are about 300 lakes, over 200 of them in this area alone. The unique Tsaatan people, named from the Mongolian word for reindeer, Tsaatan, inhabit the valleys.

The Tsaatan use tents made from reindeer skin. Their entire existence is based on the reindeer, which provides milk, skins for clothes, transport and, occasionally, meat. Tsaatan people are part of a Tuvan ethnic group which inhabits nearby Russia. There are only about  200 Tsaatan, spread over 100,000 sq km of northern Mongolia.
