Tourists may take an elevator inside the statue, with the exit at the level of Genghis Khan’s thigh, from where it is possible to walk up to the horse’s head for a panoramic view of the steppe. We will also visit a small museum, located in the basement of the Equestrian Statue.
Afterward, departure to Gorkhi/Terelj National Park, located 1600 m above sea level, with high Mesozoic granite rocks, mountains, steppes, alpine forests, and curious rock formations such as Turtle Rock or the Reading Monk. The Park lies at the foot of the Khentii Mountains, the region where Genghis Khan was born. Declared a National Park in 1993, it covers an area of 300,000 hectares. We then take a domestic flight Ulaanbaatar/Dalanzadgad (capital of South Gobi province, 1hr, 30min. *Domestic flights are subject to cancellations or schedule changes without prior notice).
