Departure in the direction of the Tsenkher Hot Springs Resort, located near the Khangai mountains and in a forested area, in the province of Arkhangai. These hot springs are sulphurous springs that flow at a temperature of more than 80 degrees, allowing visitors to enjoy an open-air spa in the middle of nature. Departure in the direction the Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur-this is a freshwater lake with volcanic area around it is certainly the highlight of Arkhangai province. Here you will have the opportunity for hiking around the lake. We explore the Orkhon River Waterfall, which is ten meters wide and twenty meters high. The small lake formed beneath the waterfall is impressive; the basalt rocks create wonderful vistas by playing with the light and producing dazzling effects amidst the landscape. At the Orkhon River Waterfall, we can enjoy a relaxing dip. We will also enjoy the Orkhon River Valley (declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004). Next, we depart for the Khushuu Tsaidam Memorials museum in the Orkhon River Valley; erected in honor of the early 8th-century Turkic princes Bilge Khan and Kul Tigin—and featuring the famous Orkhon inscriptions—these are considered the most impressive monuments of the nomadic Göktürk Empire. We continue our journey toward the Elsen Tasarkhai dunes (known as the Bayangobi Desert). These desert sand dunes stretch for 80 km (50 miles) across a beautiful valley. There will be opportunities for hiking, walking across the dunes, and photographing the scenery. An excursion riding Bactrian camels across the dunes is included. Finally, we return to Ulaanbaatar for some last-minute shopping.
A large part of the Mongolian population remains nomadic, moving from place to place on horseback, camel, or yak with their *gers* (yurts) and herds; encountering one of these families and witnessing their way of life is an unforgettable experience.
